Final Permit Fees/Costs

by J Scott on June 11, 2014

As a reminder, here is the Permit Process in our County

Our Building Permit isn’t yet fully processed (we still need the Sediment Control inspection), but the Permit Department was able to give me a final list of permit fees/costs for the project.

Below is a list of the total permit fees incurred (some already paid/some to be paid) for this project…there are a lot of them:

On the bright side, $1,500 of the Water Meter Deposit is refundable once the new water meter is installed and $420.80 of the Grading Permit Fee is refundable when the grading is completed.

That brings the total estimate Permit Fees/Costs to: $12,449.38.

HI Scott, Do you know which of these fees you would not have had to pay if you had been able to remodel the house?

Hey David,

We would have saved most of this had we not had to rebuild. Many of these fees are based on the fact that it’s new construction, so I imagine the remodel permit costs would have been closer to $1000-2000 otherwise.

There are some cities here that don’t consider it a full rebuild if u leave just one exterior wall or a chimney.
