I could have gone the less expensive way, and had my carpenter install a garage door and opener that I purchased myself, but for simplicity sake, I decided to go turn-key on the garage door and have a local garage door company do all the work. After getting a few bids, I decided to go with Automatic Doorz.
Their bid was as follows:
- Install an Insulated 16’x8′ Aluminum Garage Door with Non-Glass Inserts
- Install a Liftmaster Garage Door Opener
- Install a Remote Keypad
Bid includes both material and labor, and we agreed on $2000 for all the work.
The door is a special order, and will take about two more weeks to get in. I imagine we’ll do the install towards the end of September.

if you guys will use that door all the time, get them to install heavy duty springs or a commercial style opener. those springs are rated to like 100k openings, as opposed to just 10-20k. from what i remember..
