When we first moved here earlier in the year, my best friend needed some hardwood floors replaced. I spent a couple weeks helping him get bids and figuring out the right contractor to use. The contractor he ended up choosing — Lady Baltimore Hardwood Floors — did a great job at a reasonable price (reasonable for the hardwood prices in Maryland, at least :).
When we started getting bids for our hardwoods, I was ready to use Lady Baltimore, but ended up getting two other bids as well, just in case. As suspected, the other two bids were a bit higher, and there was no benefit in choosing an unknown contractor over the contractor that we already knew would do a good job. So, we ultimately selected Lady Baltimore Hardwood Floors to do the hardwoods in our house.
The total price of the job — installation of 3/4″ solid oak, 3.25″ wide planks site-finished with stain and three coats of polyurethane is $7857.

How much is new wood floors per square footage installed?
Hey George –
In Maryland, we’re finding $7-9 per square foot (installed and site finished) is about the going rate.
