I put off making a decision on a drywall contractor for way too long on this project — I realized early this week that we were just two weeks away from starting to hang sheetrock, and I hadn’t finalized a bid. Over the past few months, I got five bids for the sheetrock work, ranging in price from $11,500 to $14,500. Three of the companies were responsive, professional and gave me the impression that they could complete the work efficiently and with high quality — given how important sheetrock installation is to the final aesthetics of the house, we weren’t just looking for the lowest bid.
I had the three companies I liked come out this week for a final field measure — two of them were able to get their prices down to what I budgeted, and I would have been happy with either of them. Ultimately, I went with my gut and chose Bill Werking Drywall, Inc. He was responsive, quick to come out and measure the house and got his final bid to me within 24 hours.
Bill and his team will be doing the sheetrock installation and finishing for $12,575. Hopefully we’ll have them starting in just over a week…
